When you're a child living in an orphanage, Santa doesn't always find his way to you. This is a sad fact for many children who especially deserve to share in the joy and happiness of the holiday season. Each holiday season Santa's Shoebox begins collecting shoebox gifts to deliver to orphanages in Eastern Europe making certain each child in the orphanages we serve has his or her own gift to open. For many of these children, this will be their first Christmas present ever. What better way to celebrate the true meaning of the holiday than to put a smile on the face of a child?
Sending the joy and happiness of Christmas to orphans
Every child has a different wish for a special gift, and while it's impossible to list and deliver that wish to every child at the orphanage, we like to highlight some of these children. On our sponsor page, we have pictures of children along with their individual Christmas gift wish. You can choose to sponsor the gift for this child and we will send it in your name. Remember this is only a small sampling of the children hoping to receive a shoe box gift.
Putting together a shoebox gift can be completed in four fun and easy steps. On the How to Prepare a Shoebox page, we give examples of what to send as well as items not to send.
A shoebox gift is a shoe box wrapped in Christmas paper and filled with things a child would like. Items such as crayons, Barbie dolls, baseballs, and playing cards make great fillers as are things useful in the orphanage such as hats. scarfs, mittens, toothbrushes, and craft supplies.
